{"id":186054,"date":"2020-04-08T16:49:34","date_gmt":"2020-04-08T23:49:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asphaltandrubber.com\/?p=186054"},"modified":"2020-04-17T11:29:21","modified_gmt":"2020-04-17T18:29:21","slug":"850cc-honda-africa-twin-rumor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asphaltandrubber.com\/rumors\/850cc-honda-africa-twin-rumor\/","title":{"rendered":"Is Honda Working on a Midsized Africa Twin?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It looks like we are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asphaltandrubber.com\/rumors\/honda-africa-twin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">resurrecting a rumor from five years ago<\/a>, as once again there is talk of a midsized adventure bike from Honda in the pipes.<\/p>\n<p>It remains to be seen if this new model will take over the &#8220;Transalp&#8221; moniker <a href=\"http:\/\/tmsearch.uspto.gov\/bin\/showfield?f=doc&amp;state=4802:t1wzmy.2.1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(Honda canceled its Transalp trademark in 2016 for the USA, after reviving it in 2013)<\/a>, but right now the rumors from Europe are suggesting an 850cc twin-cylinder ADV bike is coming from Big Red.<\/p>\n<p>Whether the rumor is true remains to be seen, but there is plenty of ammo to see a so-called Honda CRF850L hitting the market.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><div style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"aspha-2106805965\" data-cfptl=\"1\" data-cfpa=\"177284\" data-cfpw=\"177284\"><div class=\"show-lg\">\r\n<!-- BEGIN SECURE JS TAG - Asphalt&Rubber 728x90 Leaderboard - DT -->\r\n<!--DO NOT MODIFY-->\r\n<SCRIPT SRC=\"https:\/\/secureads.digitalthrottle.com\/ttj?id=1204949&cb=[CACHEBUSTER]&referrer=asphaltandrubber.com\" TYPE=\"text\/javascript\"><\/SCRIPT>\r\n<!-- END TAG -->\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"show-sm show-md\">\r\n\t<!-- \/1049627\/468x60-article-leaderboard-table -->\r\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1580325311860-0' style='width: 468px; height: 60px;'>\r\n  <script>\r\n    googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1580325311860-0'); });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"show-xs show-ty\">\r\n<!-- BEGIN SECURE JS TAG - Asphalt&Rubber 300x250 Rectangle - DT (Top) -->\r\n<!--DO NOT MODIFY-->\r\n<SCRIPT SRC=\"https:\/\/secureads.digitalthrottle.com\/ttj?id=1204947&cb=[CACHEBUSTER]&referrer=asphaltandrubber.com\" TYPE=\"text\/javascript\"><\/SCRIPT>\r\n<!-- END TAG -->\r\n<\/div><\/div><script type=\"text\/javascript\">;new advadsCfpAd( 177284 );<\/script><\/p>\n<p>First off, there is the fact that midsized adventure-touring market is ripe right now, with a plethora of intriguing models hitting this space, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asphaltandrubber.com\/bikes\/2019-bmw-f850gs-adventure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BMW F850GS<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asphaltandrubber.com\/bikes\/ktm-790-adventure-price-usa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KTM 790 Adventure<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asphaltandrubber.com\/bikes\/updated-triumph-tiger-900-finally-debuts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Triumph Tiger 900<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asphaltandrubber.com\/bikes\/2021-yamaha-tenere-700\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While the Japanese brand has the&nbsp;<a title=\"The 2012 Honda NC700X is Coming to America\" href=\"https:\/\/www.asphaltandrubber.com\/bikes\/honda-nc750x-coming-usa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Honda NC750X<\/a>&nbsp;already in its lineup, a&nbsp;proper adventure-bikes it surely is not.<\/p>\n<p>Having a midsized ADV bike that can handle some actual off-road use could fit well in Honda&#8217;s lineup, which currently sees a pretty large gap between the Honda CRF450L and Honda Africa Twin.<\/p>\n<p>Where the rumor gets tough those is when looking at the price points. But, this rumor makes a lot of sense to us. We shall see if it makes even more sense to the higher-ups in Hamamatsu.
